These detailed outfit tactics will be covered in our weekly basic training sessions. Please read this in advance of attending.
- We are primarily focused on Gal Drops and Max Crashes geared towards capturing bases indoors
- Each squad functions as a tight, cohesive unit with every member always in sight of each other
- Group tactics are different than solo tactics
- Don't jump around to fight or you will get caught in friendly fire.
- Hold position and concentrate fire on enemies
- DO NOT TAP OUT. We have Adv Meds to rez you
- We focus on achieving our objective, not going for kills
- We always have one Ops Leader who is in complete control and should be the ONLY person giving orders
Sanctuary
- We always form up at Waypoint 4 located at HART B on the West side of the HART Building
- Wait up against the wall leaving room for the gal to load on the waypoint
- Do not get in any vehicle other than the Gal unless you have been specifically asked to do so
Homebase
- Having the entire Platoon bound at one base is the most effective way to keep our team together.
- We usually have set a Homebase bind. Always go there first when coming on continent. Do NOT go where we are.
- The new Homebase bind feature allows you to bind once you enter the SOI.
- You can be bound at one base and one AMS at any given time.
- Always bind at any AMS you spawn in to. This gives you 2 AMSs to choose from next time
Respawning
- Having the entire Platoon respawn at the same location is the most important tactic to make us successful
- Never click to respawn when you die. WAIT FOR ORDERS from the Ops Leader
- We have many advanced medics. We may be able to rez you (if you stayed with us as you should)
- Otherwise, the Ops Leader will determine where and when the entire Platoon should respawn.
- If told to Decon to a location, do not wait, go directly to spawn tube and press G to respawn or go get killed and respawn
- Not following any of these protocols severely hurts our effectiveness, rudely makes your teammates wait for you. This may result in your being removed from the Azure Twilight
Gal Loading
- Gal will land for no more than 30 seconds. Be ready to load.
- Stay in the lobby or against HART wall until the gal has landed before moving to load gal and wait for the Ops leader to tell you to load
- Make sure all Max spots have been called in outfit chat before the gal arrives
- Load gunner spots and far side of gal first
- Do not put a vehicle into the gal unless specifically asked to do so
Gal Drops
- The gal is a stealth vehicle. Never fire the guns in the gal unless being attacked by enemy air
- Always make sure someone is ready to EMP on the drop
- Drop early and try to land first if you are doing EMP
- Always make sure someone is ready to quickly hack open the door (ideally and Adv Hacker)
- If you are first to the door, get out your REK and hack
- You do not need a hacking cert to open doors or hack CCs. ALWAYS carry a REK in every favorite.
- Be aware of which Waypoint you are dropping on and what your target is when you drop
- Watch your mini map to see when you are directly over Waypoint
- Press ALT + G to drop out of Gal
- Drop EXACTLY on the waypoint
- Take your gun out in the air and you can guide yourself down
- Maxes fire once and reload to guide yourself
- If you are late on drop, you can use surge in the air to move faster to waypoint
- Get inside quickly, don't stop to shoot CE or enemies outside
- Hold position inside. Guard front and back while everyone is healed/repaired
- Always face away from, and guard, the person who is healing/repairing you
Tower
- The first person inside the tower should immediately run across and open the opposite door
- If possible, stop and heal/repair the troops, keeping outside doors closed
- Maxes go down the stairs first
- Hug the outside wall in case a boomer has been placed around the corner
- The first person with Adv Hack should hack the CC. If not, make sure someone is hacking.
- If you are the hacker and you go down, make sure you tell the Ops Leader so someone can take your place
- Proceed past the CC and hold 1/2 floor below the CC until tower is capped to prevent enemies from getting a shot at hacker
- The last person down should remain 1/2 floor above the CC to stop droppers from coming in from behind
- Once the tower is capped, move down as a group and clear out the tower
- Hug the inside wall at this point to make sure the ground level door stays closed
- If you are down, tap out in the tower and clear it out
- If the tower is under attack, Max up and autorun back to CC and kill the enemy hacker first
Base
- Immediately get inside the base
- Once inside, if possible heal/repair troops making sure to guard ahead and behind
- Maxes autorun, softies surge, to objective
- If resistance is light, do not stop to kill enemies
- If resistance is heavy, follow the Maxes in and take out the enemies
- Secure area, heal and repair
- Go to objective and execute plan
- Note: All CCs are in the basement except at Amp Stations and Tech Plants
- Note: All Gens are in the basement except at Bio Labs
Base - Front Door & Rooftop Equipment Room
- Immediately get inside the small equipment room located at the top of Interlink Facilities and Dropship Centers, or base lobby
- Move to rear of room and let door close while Adv Hacker hacks terms
- Max up and prepare to crash to objective
- Execute plan
Gal Pilot
- The Gal Pilot is one of the most crucial positions in this Outfit.
- Being Gal Pilot is a requirement, and gets preference, for Squad Leader
- Gal pilot is responsible for keeping gal alive and alerting the Ops Leader if gal is lost, and getting new one if requested
- Be sure to set the gal to Group Only -- press shift V, select All, choose Group
- When on the ground, be ready to lift off immediately in case of OS.
- Always leave space ahead of you to lift off when you land the gal
- Have your fingers on the Forward (W) + Up (E) + Afterburner (space) keys at all times and you will never get OS'd
- Once the gal is full, lift off and hover over base, or proceed directly to target
- Never fly over enemy bases or towers. Choose a route that does not go near hotspots
- Frequent use of your Personal Waypoint is highly encouraged
- For back door drops, choose a route that takes you parallel to back door wall
- Always fly full speed and maximum height (unless asked for low drop)
- In case of attack by enemy air lower the nose and press E to allow tailgunner to shoot attacker
- Alert our Air Cav that gal is under attack
- If possible, fly near a friendly base or tower to let its turrets shoot enemy
- After drop, use afterburner to move quickly away from enemy base and proceed to safety zone -- nearest warpgate, geowarp, or hover offshore
- If shields need to be re-generated, fly to friendly bases and hover at max altitude until shields are at full strength. Then proceed back to safety zone.
- Never leave the gal for any reason
- Alert the Ops Leader if you need to go AFK
- Do not log off until you have given control of the Gal to a replacement pilot
- Wait for Ops Leader to request gal pickup before leaving safety zone
- If you hover at max altitude in the warpgate you are less likely to be noticed
- If you land the Gal, get out and sit under it enemies may think its just a parked gal
- If enemy air camps you in Warpgate, either call for Air Cav or, if the continent is not poplocked, go through the warpgate and come back on cont
Max Tactics
Everyone in the Azure Twilight is required to have a Max cert at all times. NO EXCEPTIONS
Setup
- Choose the Quasar AI Max or the Comet AV Max. The Starfire AA Max is not acceptable.
- The Quasar Max is preferred as it has an AI mode (primary) and an AV mode (secondary)
- If you have the cert points, UniMax is useful
- Your Max Favorite should include one box of Engy juice and one box of Medic Juice along with at least four medkits
- You can get the Engy and Med juice during training, from another member, or in Virtual Training. Be sure to re-save your Favorite with those items
- Set a Max configuration in Keymapping to make movement easier
- Click Escape, Keymapping. Save your current configuration with your character name (on the bottom right).
- Click Escape, Keymapping. Click the mouse icon and put the first mouse setting at Maximum sensitivity.
- Save that configuration under "Max"
- Now you can load a Max setting for easier turning, or your standard setting when in agile or rexo
Maxing Up
- Having two Maxes in every Gal is critical to our success.
- Type "max' in outfit chat when asked by Ops Leader for Maxes in the Gal. Do not hesitate.
- When told to "Max Up" by Ops Leader immediately go to nearest equipment terminal and equip Max armor
- "Max up and meet in lobby" means meet right at the front door of the base (inside)
- "Max up and meet at 2.5" means meet between floor 2 and floor 3 of the stairwell
Max Crash
- The Max Crash is one of the Azure Twilight's most powerful weapons
- Max Crashes are always to the Tubes in a Tower; to the Gen or Tubes in a Base
- The Ops Leader will determine the objective and assign someone to lead the Max Crash
- If the Base is live (Gen up, not hacked) a softy (non-Max) needs to get the door open to both the Base and the Gen
- Dropping from an aircraft is often more effective than trying to send a cloaker to open the door
- An EMP or jammer grenade will destroy mines and spitfires and clear the way for incoming Maxes
- Once the door is open, stay in the doorway. If you die do not tap out (this keeps the door open)
- Follow the Max Crash leader in his exact path and in single file
- If the Base is live, be aware that the turrets will fire on autorunning Maxes
- Either a choose a wide route, using terrain and trees as cover, or walk rather than run
- During a Max Crash, your only goal is to get to your objective
- Press Q to autorun and do not stop (do not press any movement keys except the mouse) until you have reached the objective
- Jump over any mines, vehicles or enemies that you encounter along the way
- Be sure to use secondary fire (right click once) in Quasar Max when shooting hard targets
- Hard targets include Gens, Tubes, Equipment, Vehicles and Maxes
- Don't forget to right-click again to shoot softies
- Be sure to use your medkits to keep your health level high. Map this to a mouse button
Generator
Always take the most direct route to the Gen, usually avoiding the main stairwell.
Attack
- Depriving the enemy of the ability to spawn, re-arm and roll vehicles is the most effective way to take a base.
- A pre-emptive attack, before the enemy is alerted, ensures success
- When attacking the Gen, shoot up high so as not to hit your teammates
- Gen is destroyed when the message "Gen is overloaded and will explode" appears on the screen.
- Immediately leave Gen room so you are not killed when Gen explodes
- Once the Gen has exploded, go back into the Gen room and prepare to defend
Resecure
- Engies should crouch behind Gen to avoid enemy fire. Use third person to watch door while repairing.
- Troops not repairing Gen should guard doorway in same manner as Attack
Spawn Room
Always enter the Spawn Room from the Kitchen (rear of Spawn Room) rather than side doors. This requires going down to the basement first. You will encounter less enemies that way and have a place to hold and heal/repair as needed.
Attack
- When attacking the spawn tubes, Maxes should get inside the tube and fire.
- Troops behind should shoot above Max's head, and take his place inside tube if he goes down
- The tube is "dead" when the light goes out, sparks fly and the prompt says "destroyed spawn tube"
- Immediately move to the next tube once one is down
- Once all tubes are down, kill any enemies nearby and then move out of spawn room to avoid pain field
Resecure
- Engies should get inside spawn tube to repair
- If you are alone repairing, only bring each tube up halfway first, then go back and fully repair each
- Be sure to repair the equipment terminals and replace any glue guns used from locker
- Troops not repairing should face the three doors with weapon out to prevent enemies from entering
Base Defense
CC
- Defend the CC from the main room outside the CC room
- Only one person with Darklight should be in the small CC room itself
- In Tech Plant put half at top of stairs facing up; half at 2.5 facing down
- Find a spot with cover and focus on all the entrances to that room
- Wait for enemies to come to you, do NOT chase them
- At 3 minutes to cap move everyone from the Gen and Spawn room to CC area
Spawn Room
- Depriving the enemy of a spawn point is the most important part of capturing a base
- It is better to lose the hack than allow the enemy to get spawns up
- You can always rehack if you have control of the base, but you will lose control of the base if the enemy can spawn in
- Keep one Max outside the Spawn room guarding entry to both side doors
- Put an Adv Med/Engie in the Kitchen to guard that entry and keep the Maxes alive and repaired
- If any of these three critical positions go down, send replacements immediately to keep spawns down
Generator
- All Maxes should be "up high" on top of front pillars
- All softies should be at the back of Gen facing door where fire can be concentrated on incoming enemies
- If possible, position one Max at top of stairs to block entry to Gen
- Engies should be positioned off their side where they can repair the Maxes without taking damage
- If you need repairs, step behind the Gen itself and face door while you are healed/repaired
Air Cav
- Beekergunship is the Azure Air Cav Officer
- Only Azure Veteran and Officer ranks are eligible to be in the Azure Air Cav
- All other troops must be in the gal
- Air Cav is a privilege that is earned with rank
- Gals must be full
- No more than three people in the Air at any one time
- Air Cav Officer or Ops Leader will determine who is in the air
- These are dedicated positions for the night until a change is decided
Armor
- We will roll Armor on an as needed basis as determined by the Ops Leader
- Armor will stay grouped up at all times
- Armor Leader will call targets and everyone will concentrate fire on the same target
- Once courtyard is under control, we will go inside to take base
- Armor vehicles should be deconned to prevent enemies from hacking them
- If the base is an LLU, drivers should remain in their vehicles
If you have not already done so, please post that you have read and agree to abide by the Azure Twilight rules on the
I have read the Rules thread.
